DWF LIVE: The Four Sacred Medicines

Created for Secret Path Week, this four-part video series is hosted by Sarah Loretta Schuster (Zhaawashkwaa-Giizhigong-Biish-Kwe), founder of Miskwaadesi Studio.

In this series, Sarah explores the spiritual, cultural, and practical significance of the Four Sacred Medicines — tobacco, sweetgrass, sage, and cedar — through storytelling, teachings, and hands-on demonstrations. She guides viewers through each medicine’s harvesting, preparation, ceremonial protocols, and living practices, while emphasizing relationship, reciprocity, and connection to the Medicine Wheel.

Each episode focuses on one medicine and its teachings: the gratitude and communication of Tobacco, the kindness and healing of Sweetgrass, the cleansing and renewal of Sage, and the protection and respect of Cedar.

Suitable for all ages, WF LIVE: The Four Sacred Medicines offers a meaningful way to take part in Secret Path Week by learning about Anishinaabe culture, connection to the land, and the responsibilities that come with caring for these sacred plants. Watch the replay below.
