FROM THE COMMUNITY

We’ve been so lucky to have students from Richmond Hill Learning Academy’s Day Program Community Living York South helping us document the growth of the Indigenous medicine garden at the outside Central Library.

From observing new growth to recording changes in the plants, their photos and journal entries have helped capture the garden’s journey as it comes to life. Chi-miigwetch to the students for their care and creativity, and to everyone who has taken the time to visit, pause, and show love to these gardens!

Here’s a journal reflection and photos from their last visit:

It’s part of nature. Before there was not much, but now there’s more. Maybe it was the water that was needed – plants need water.

The plants make me feel relaxed, calm, it’s part of nature. It’s beautiful. God created it, and God makes good stuff – trees, people, and we try to keep it clean as much as we can. I’m happy to be here with all the beautiful people, my friends.
