Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions about
Richmond Hill’s Gitigaan Mashkiki (Medicine Gardens)
Why are these gardens important?
While Richmond Hill’s population grows, access to Indigenous cultural spaces still remains limited. Our Gitigaan Mashkiki (Medicine Gardens) and Miskwaadesi Studio’s inclusive programming help bridge this gap.
Can I visit the gardens?
Yes! The gardens are open to the public. Everyone is welcome to walk through respectfully, observe what’s growing, and learn from the space. Please refrain from picking or harvesting the medicines at any stage of their growth.
Are you saving seeds?
Yes! Seeds saved from the gardens will be donated back to the community through community seed swaps, local seed libraries, and giveaways the following year. Stay tuned for updates on how you can get involved and receive seeds from our gardens.
Do I need to be Indigenous to participate?
No. These gardens are open to all who come with respect, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
